If you look at the IoT spectrum today, like your smart home products, it will remind you of the early days of web. Most of the "smart" products feel crappy, run poorly, and provide the worst experience.

And this is because developing IoT products is a massive engineering challenge. The knowledge set required to build high-performing internet-connected devices has never been broader. You need hardware, app, and backend engineers in your team to just build your first prototype. So it takes companies months (if not years) and millions to make it to the market.

That's where we are playing a transformational role.

We are building an IDE for IoT that takes the communication, storage, and consumption entirely out of the equation of developers, so that they can focus on what matters the most to them: their hardware.

We are making it incredibly easier and cost effective for developers and startups all over the world to get started in IoT with minimal amount of development and coding. And it is important because our future will be centered around innovations in hardware — software alone just won't cut it anymore. So in future, IoT will be essential to products in consumer hardware space, just the way we can't imagine Netflix, Uber, or Facebook without the internet.

Technically, we are doing to the internet of things what AWS did to the internet. We are on mission to democratize IoT!

About the role

We are building and growing Grandeur in public with developers all over the world. In essence, we are community-centered, and at the core of it is our content and events. Our most successful initiative is Wired, an IoT workshop where we take the students through the IoT development journey by building with them, simple and intuitive applications. A creative designer designs the notion and emotion of these campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the design system for Wired and other events, webinars, hackathons that the DevRel team organizes.
• Design the headline images and other illustrations for Grandeur’s top-level articles.
• Design illustrations for Grandeur’s landing page and event-specific pages.
• Design technical illustrations that condense complex concepts into epiphanies.

For the right candidate, additional responsibilities may include:

• Working with the Founders to construct and execute on a hiring plan to grow the Design team.

Key Qualifications

• Experience of building technical illustrations.
• Experience of building posters, flexes, and swags including shirts, stickers, etc. for technology events.
• Experience of creating slide decks.
• Experience or understanding of using Illustrator and aftereffects.
• Avid user of Instagram and Twitter.
• Outstanding design skills with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into simple and intuitive design epiphanies.
• Self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
